Power producer comes with power director express but no activation key for power director express only a key for power producer ultra. I have requested a key for power director express 6.5 but all I get is a download link for power producer ultra and a key for that,which still will not work with power director express, can anybody help me out with this, it is very frustrating.

Hi Kevin,
You do not need a key for PowerDirector, install PowerProducer, apply key to PowerProducer, PowerDirector is then available to use.

It asks for a key, I install the power producer key and it tells me the key you have entered belongs to power director deluxe and needs additional oem package to install. I do not get it

Not sure what is happening here, PowerProducer 5 has bundled with it PowerDirector 6 Express, only one key is required to activate the bundle.
Uninstall the bundle in accordance with Part C of the following link,

Use the same procedure for both PowerProducer and PowerDirector, then reinstall the bundle again. Activate PowerProducer, then open program, bring a video clip into the timeline, then click advanced edit, this should take you into PowerDirector, if not contact Technical Support again, explain to them exactly, your installation procedure and the fact that PowerDirector will not open from within PowerProducer.
If you still are unable to resolve this issue, please post again and I will ask Dafydd to intervene on your behalf

Feb 14, 2010 22:59 Hi there sorry I did not get back to you sooner, bad computer problems. Anyways back up and running and I still have the same problem. Power director express asks for a cd key so I use the power producer key and then it comes up with a message I have included as a jpeg file. Let me know what you think.

Just for the hell of it, I installed PP5 Ultra on my laptop, used the one activation key provided to activate PP5, loaded a few video clips, then went to advanced edit, PowerDirector opened without issue.
I think you need to again contact Technical Support, it's possible that you have an InstallShield issue, have you ever had PowerDirector or a trial version on your computer

No never had it installed on this computer. I have contacted support through e-mail and all they do is sent me another link to get pp5 and I still get the same problem when I install it.

OK, This really appears to be a computer issue or just an installation issue. I want you to uninstall PP5 and remove ALL CyberLink software from your computer. The problem is unique to you.
I didn't see any mention of a diagnostic request to show us what your system is - follow the guides below.
I wasn't able to view the image you attached - don't know what's happened to it. I would like to see more images of the error message, the request and perhaps know the actions you are carrying out to trigger the message - you may be asking it to perform tasks for a higher build or it is a registration notification you're seeing.

Uninstall and reinstall of PowerProducer
Try the following way to re-install PowerProducer:
a.) Start--> Programs -->Cyberlink PowerProducer --> Uninstall PowerProducer
b.) Start --> Run --> type 'regedit' --> click 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE' --> click 'Software' --> locate 'Cyberlink' ----> Delete 'CyberLink' folder.
c.) Start --> Run --> type 'regedit'--> click 'Hkey_Current_user' --> click
'Software' --> locate 'Cyberlink' ----> Delete 'CyberLink' folder.
d.) Delete C:Programs FilesCyberlinkPowerProducer
And reboot your PC.
After this, please install your PowerProducer

Here's some fuller uninstall instructions which are issued to PowerDirector users, substitute Powerproducer and carry out the same task.

II. Install Microsoft cleanup tool and clean PowerDirector installation information Install Microsoft cleanup tool and execute from 'Startall programsWindowsInstaller Cleanup' To check if PowerDirector is on product list, If you can see PowerDirector in product list. Select
PowerDirector and click 'Remove' button to clean up PowerDirector.

III. Remove PowerDirector folder and clean up PowerDirector Registry
Please try the following steps.
1. Remove C:Program FilesCyberLinkPowerDirector folder
2. Remove C:Program FilesInstallShield Installation Information{CB099890-1D5F-11D5-9EA9-0050BAE317E1} folder
3. Run regedit (Start --> Run --> type 'regedit' )
(1) Remove HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWARECyberLinkPowerDirector
(2) Remove

The object is to REMOVE all traces of PowerProducer and this includes PowerDirector Express. You would then after shutting down your PC go and reinstall PowerProducer.

Feb 16, 2010 23:11 Tried cleaning everything out but I still get the same problem, it was also happening on the other computer, before I got this one.I will include the first message that comes up when I start power director and then the second one after I put in the key that was provided for power producer. I sent a message to tech support and all they asked me was what file format I am using, whatever that means.As far as I can tell the power producer key will not activate power director express. The advanced editing button in power producer is not even active.The acer laptop includes acer arcade which is made by cyberlink, could this cause aproblem.

Please take your issue to Tech Support. The two images you have provided here do NOT correspond with the data I or Robert have for PowerProducer 5.
